Organising opera in the summer outside is always tricky. The English weather is a challenge at the best of times and following the weather forecasts can be a dark art
I am singing outside on Friday at 51 Buckingham Gate in a beautiful courtyard with three other singers and accompanied by Piano, violin and cello. We rehearsed a couple of days before which was tricky but fortunately, the rain held off.
The venue was very happy but with a potential torrential rain forecast for the performance were talking about moving it to a different date. Not easy to get seven people together with little notice.
We heard today that it is definitely on even with the forecast so we are now working out how to stay dry and warm!
We will be using a little sound enhancement in order to balance out the voices with the instruments so that will be an added ingredient to the fun of singing in the rain!
The main performances are on 1st, 2nd, 29th and 30th July so I am hoping the weather will be good for those days. It will be a wonderful evening for the guests who will enjoy a three-course meal, glass of wine and beautiful opera together with live music during the evening.
